Theme: We walk in peace because of what the Lord has done for us .
Text(s):  James 3:13-18, Judges 6:11-24, John 14:25-27

Here’s a thought: We can sow seeds of peace when people are anxious.

We are in a season of sowing.

James 3:13-18 - two kinds of wisdom. Peacemakers who sow in peace will raise a harvest of righteousness.

Note verse 18, “Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”

Why do we reap righteousness when we sow in peace?

We are called to be peacemakers. Shalom means peace, which can also mean harmony, wholeness, hello, goodbye and other things.

Biblical Shalom focuses on repairing or reconciling relationships.

Jesus died on the cross so we can be reconciled with God and have a peaceful, tranquil, Shalom relationship with Him.

Yahweh Shalom, or the Lord of peace, is revealed when He calls Gideon in Judges 6.

Judges 6:24:

So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. NIV

The Lord wanted to have a relationship with Gideon.

Isaiah 9:6 - the Prince of Peace.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and this emphasizes His divinity.

We sow peace out of our relationship with the Lord.

When two parties are reconciled, they need to live out this reconciliation.

John 14 - Peace I leave with you.

We know someone by walking with them and getting to know their character.

I cannot sow peace if I do not have peace in my heart.

Peace can look different for different people.

Psalm 34:14 - Seek peace and pursue it.

Romans 14:17 - the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Colossians 3:15 - let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.

Peace is like a baseball umpire declaring whether we are safe or out.

How do we sow peace in our lives?

Live in the right relationship with the Lord. Our faith can usher peace into our hearts.

Practice His presence.

Let’s still ourselves so the Holy Spirit can bring peace.

We can demonstrate peace when we sacrifice.

We can sow seeds of peace when people are anxious.

Romans 12:18 - live at peace with others as much as possible.

Ephesians 2 - made alive in Christ.

We walk in peace because of what the Lord has done for us
